What is Pediatric Sports Medicine?

Children are not “little adults,” they have their own unique issues that come with growth and skeletal immaturity. A pediatric sports medicine specialist is a physician with the training and qualifications to recognize, treat, and guide rehabilitation of pediatric specific injury issues. A Pediatric Sports Medicine specialist needs to be board certified in both Pediatrics and Sports Medicine. Special training and experience in pediatric sports medicine allows these specialists to appropriately treat the unique sports-related medical needs of children and teens.
